The gesture

Hold mute. That's it.

You never leave what you're watching. Hold the mute button for one second and a small panel appears over the movie: ◄ ► picks a level, ▲ ▼ fine-tunes the warmth, and it fades away on its own. A short press still mutes, exactly like before. No menus, no settings apps, no pausing the show while your eyes give up.

Why it feels built-in

One filter. Everything. Every night.

Covers everything

One warm layer across every app and every screen — Netflix, YouTube, live TV, the home menu. Not a picture-mode trick that streaming apps ignore.

Knows when it's evening

Ramps up gently in the evening, holds overnight, and fades out in the morning. Extra-dims for late-night viewing so the panel — and your eyes — rest easier.

Zero data. Zero ads. Under 1 MB.

Collects nothing and phones home to no one. Smaller than a single photo — it even fits on storage-starved TVs where other apps won't.

Setup

About 5 minutes, once.

Guided, brand-by-brand instructions for Sony, TCL, Hisense, Chromecast and Fire TV. If you can pair Bluetooth headphones, you can do this.

Hold mute

That's the whole manual. Enjoy tonight.

Why does Warm Dusk need a one-time pairing?

TVs don't let apps draw over other apps unless the owner grants it — that's a good rule. The setup uses the same official pairing mechanism developers use to grant those permissions, once, and touches nothing else. Everything it enables is revocable anytime in your TV's settings.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers.

Does it work over Netflix and YouTube?

On our tested Sony Google TV, yes — including DRM playback and the home screen. Compatibility varies by TV, Android version, and app; external HDMI inputs are outside the Android TV app layer.

Will it survive turning the TV off?

Yes. Warm Dusk starts with the TV and remembers your schedule. Set it once.

Does it collect anything?

No. No analytics, no ads, no accounts — and no internet permission at all, so the app physically cannot send anything, ever. Don't take our word for it: every release publishes its SHA-256, and the APK's manifest is inspectable with standard Android tools. It will stay this way, because it's the reason many of you are here.

What if my remote has no mute button?

Teaching Warm Dusk any button is coming in the Play version. The free preview's home-row panel works now without the mute button or accessibility grant.

Is the setup safe?

It uses the same official pairing mechanism Android provides to developers, and it grants exactly two things: "draw over other apps" (the filter itself) and an accessibility service (so the app can notice you holding the mute key — key events only, and with no internet permission nothing can leave the TV regardless). Both are visible and revocable in your TV's settings anytime.

Which TVs work?

Warm Dusk targets Android TV / Google TV on Android 8 or newer. Fire TV sideload support and exact model compatibility are still being tested. See the compatibility table for measured results.
